Finding the Right Name
Finding the right name wasn’t easy. Jennifer considered several possibilities, but none seemed to capture the connection to Hanover, Dartmouth, and the sense of community she wanted the restaurant to represent.
Then, one name came to mind and stood above the rest.
During Jennifer’s years at Molly’s, she had the privilege of hosting renowned Dartmouth College Football Coach Eugene “Buddy” Teevens and his wife Kirsten, for many recruiting dinners with prospective players and incoming coaches. Through those experiences, Jennifer saw firsthand the special connection Buddy and Kirsten had with Dartmouth, its students and the greater Hanover community.
Buddy had an extraordinary ability to bring people together. While best known for his leadership of Dartmouth football, his support extended far beyond one team. He believed in Dartmouth athletics as a whole and had a lasting impact on countless student-athletes, coaches, alumni and members of the community.
Buddy’s Legacy
Following Buddy’s passing in 2023 after a tragic accident, his legacy continued to resonate throughout Hanover and beyond. When Jennifer thought about creating a restaurant that would celebrate sports while bringing the town and college community together, the answer became clear. There was one-person whose name represented that spirit better than anyone else. And so, Buddy T’s Grill & Sports Bar was born.
Great Food, Great Sports and Great Community
The menu at Buddy T’s was created to combine the familiar favorites you expect from a great sports bar with unique, made-from-scratch dishes that set it apart. To bring that vision to life, Jennifer immediately thought of Molly’s longtime Chef, Ryan O’Day. After 16 years of dedication to Molly’s, Ryan joined Buddy T’s not only as Executive Chef, but also as a partner in the new restaurant. Together, Jennifer and Ryan spent three months bringing the concept to life- from developing the menu to creating an atmosphere that would feel at home in the heart of the Upper Valley. In January 2026, Buddy T’s Grill & Sports Bar officially opened its doors, welcoming athletes, students, alumni, local families, and sports fans to a new gathering place in Hanover. More than a sports bar, Buddy T’s was created to be a place where great food, great sports, and a great community come together.
